USA Cycling National Racing Calendar Standings Print E-mail

usac-logoColorado Springs, Colo. - The 13th, 14th and 15th races on the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar took place over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. A women's only NRC race, the 1.1-rated Tour de Leelanau on May 24 saw Anne Samplonius (CAN) take the win in the 69.5-mile affair in northern Michigan. On the same day, the men raced the 1.4-rated Kelly Cup in Baltimore, Md. with David Veilleux (CAN) coming out on top in the criterium race. The Tour of Somerville, both a men's and women's NRC event, took place on May 26 in Somerville, N.J. Sebastian Haedo (ARG) took a convincing sprint win in the 1.4-rated men's contest, while criterium strongwoman Tina Pic (Dahlonega, Ga.) added another win in the women's contest.

With 11 men's races and 13 women's events on the 2008 NRC now complete, Rory Sutherland (AUS) has a commanding lead in the overall individual standings on the men's side while Leah Goldstein (CAN) is the current women's leader. The teams currently atop the standings include the Health Net Pro Cycling Team presented by Maxxis in the men's rankings and the Cheerwine Professional Cycling Team in the women's.

The next race on the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar will be the women's pro contest at the 2.6.2-rated Tulsa Tough Ride and Race in Tulsa, Okla., May 30-June 1. The 1.2-rated CSC Invitational will serve as the 17th race on the NRC on June 1 in Arlington, Va.
