usac-logoColorado Springs, Colo. – USA Cycling has announced the hiring of Larry Martin as its new Midwest Regional Coordinator.

As USA Cycling’s Midwest Regional Coordinator, Martin’s primary responsibilities will include maintaining relationships and facilitating communication with local promoters, clubs, local associations and members within his assigned region across all disciplines of competitive cycling.

Larry, a resident of Brooklyn Park, Minn., has an extensive background in the sport of cycling. He has been involved in junior development for 11 years, worked with the Minnesota Cycling Federation for six years and is currently serving as the North Central Collegiate Conference Director. In addition to his racing license, Larry also holds a Level 1 Coaches’ license, a Level B Official's license and his USA Cycling Mechanic's license. His wide variety of experience and knowledge of the sport helped make him an ideal fit for the position.

“Larry has been intimately involved with the sport of competitive cycling at many different levels,” said Theresa Delp, USA Cycling Vice President of Membership Services.  “His knowledge and experience will be an asset to USA Cycling’s customer service and membership relations initiatives at the local and regional levels and helped him stand out from a talented pool of candidates.”

For nearly the last decade Martin has taken on numerous volunteer and paid roles within the cycling industry while acting full-time as general manager of The Bicycle Chain where he handled all aspects of purchasing and merchandising. Prior to his cycling experience Martin worked as a sales territory manager at Reinhart Institutional Foods.

Martin also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies with an emphasis on teaching from Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa.

Psycowpath Date Swap!

08-psyc-logoIt has recently come to our attention that the traditional race course loop at L&C encroaches on private property in some places.  The race course is being rerouted but will need a few more months for completion of a fun and challenging race loop.  In September, riders can expect the classic L&C terrain, including miles of familiar trail as well as some freshly laid tracks that will offer a new spin on a classic venue.  The Kanesville Krusher Lewis & Clark XC, now on September 27, will serve as the 2008 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series Final.
