Omaha, Nebr. - Dr. Tom Osborne, University of Nebraska Athletic Director, will kick off the Omaha Health, Wellness, & Fitness Expo – The Mind, Body, & Spirit Fair with his opening remarks at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 26th at the Omaha Civic Auditorium Arena. Dr. Tom Osborne will talk about the Ornish Program, Meditation, Yoga, and his views on staying healthy and fit.
Also, Miss Nebraska, Micaela Johnson, will speak at the opening. Ms. Johnson is an actress, model, and former Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader and she wants to reach out to adults and children on the importance of eating healthy foods and incorporating activity into their daily routine. There is free admission to opening and the expo.

The Omaha Health Expo – Most Healthy Company Challenge will also take place on April 26-27, 2008 as the kick off event for the springtime for the running, walking, and biking season. The walk event is on the Saturday, April 26 and the biking event on Sunday, April 27. Both events start and finish right there at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Companies will earn points for their employees and family members who participate in the event. The employees and family members also earn points for attending the Omaha Health Expo. There are awards for each division based on company size. There also are Club categories and individuals can walk or bike ride in the Open Division.
Barb Schaefer, Executive Vice President at Union Pacific, is the Honorary Chair for the Walk and Bike Ride. Johnny Rodgers, former NU Football star and Heisman Trophy Winner and Miss Nebraska – Micaela Johnson are also Honorary Chairs for the Walk. Mancuso said the Omaha Health Expo is about education. There have been many studies that relate physical fitness, positive attitude, and overall health to a positive impact on the bottom line. Associates can have lower levels of stress and improve their well-being and self-esteem. For the company, that can equate to enhanced productivity and lower health care costs.
Sandy Aquila from the Omaha Healing Arts Center said, “The expo is creating an opportunity for knowledgeable people in the field of Body-Mind-Spirit Health to come together.
