Raymond, NE - Despite temperatures that failed to meet the forecasted highs, a small, but determined group of cyclists lined up for the first organized road event of the 2008 season saturday at Branched Oak Lake. The training race hosted by Midwest Wheelmasters and sponsored by the Nebraska Cycling Association featured races for Men Masters, Men 5, Women, Men 4 and Men 1/2/3.

Over 30 cyclists pedaled through a steady northwest wind, frigid temps and even light snow in the training criteriums that gave many their first competitive outing of the year.

"I am glad to see we have the training races back on the schedule," commented Jay Thomas (HRRC/Midwest TREK), who finished third in the Men's 1/2/3 race.

While there was no prize list or official results taken, the races served as a test run for a chip timing system to be used at the upcoming Spring Cycling Classic pb LifeCycles OB/GYN. Yankee Hill Vet/teamFIRE team member, Mark Rupp provided a rare opportunity for racers to experience the accuracy and ease of the Championship Chip Timing System.

"The system worked just fine," said Rupp. "With the race officials as a 'backup,' I am confident in this system for scoring cycling events."

Psycowpath Date Swap!

08-psyc-logoIt has recently come to our attention that the traditional race course loop at L&C encroaches on private property in some places.  The race course is being rerouted but will need a few more months for completion of a fun and challenging race loop.  In September, riders can expect the classic L&C terrain, including miles of familiar trail as well as some freshly laid tracks that will offer a new spin on a classic venue.  The Kanesville Krusher Lewis & Clark XC, now on September 27, will serve as the 2008 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series Final.
