Lincoln, NE - All that changed for Bill Stolte and Adam Mills (HRRC/Midwest TREK) at the top of the Men's 1/2/3 results Sunday afternoon was the place next to their name. The Kansas duo dominated the final day of the Nebraska SOBE No Fear CX Weekend from the opening lap in the 60-minute race.

With the 1.5 course run in the reverse direction of Saturday's course for the state championship event, lap times appeared to be faster for all of the 16 riders that lined up. None of the times were as fast Stolte and Mills however, who broke away after 4 laps from a solid group that included Mark Studnicki (Localcycling.com), Darin Schlake (MonkeyWrench Cycles), Adam Lang (KCCX/Verge) and Tony Wilhelm (HRRC/Midwest TREK). While the HRRC tandem moved up the road and clear of the chase, Studnicki and Schlake were the only riders able to stay clear with any chance of seeing the front of the race. With the Men's 1/2 points competition on the line, Studnicki held on to outsprint Schlake at the line finishing third overall on the day.

In the Women's race, Sydney Brown (Badger Cycles) managed a wheel change with no issue on her way to a relatively easy victory. Her second state championship in as many years. Other top finishers included: Matt Farnham (Nebraska Medical Center/Team Kaos) in Men's 4, Kelly Irwin (Northern Rockies Orthopaedic) in Men's 3, Tom Price (TREK of KC) in the Masters race, Jenny Hruska in Women's Cat. 4 and Noah Burke in the Junior Men.

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!

"The Race Across The Sky" Leadville Trail 100

"Your from Nebraska?" the gal at medical check in asked. "Yes" Steve replied. "So you’re taking the high altitude medication Diamox then?" she asked. "No" Steve replied, having never heard of it. "Oh Boy!" she said with a tone of amazement and worry. "Good Luck!"
