Trust me, he's not offended.
Fred Galata (Omaha Velo Club) has been nominated as a finalist for the 2007 Michelob Ultra "GeezerJock of the Year" by GeexerJock Magazine. Galat's nomination is in the 50-59 age group as well as "Overall GeezerJock of the Year."
There are seven nominees, male and female, for each 10-year age group, from 40 to 80+. Masters athletes are selected from 18 different sports. Galata's nomination stemmed from his 4 Gold medal performance at the National Senior Olympic Games this past June in Louisville, KY.
"At the 2007 National Senior Games, Galata won each of the men's 55-59 races: the 5K and 10K time trials and the 20K and 40K road races. He set a 5K time trial record for the Games of 7:11.96," reads a recent the Geezerjock article from this motnh's issue.
Votes are made for age-groups and voters are asked to write-in the name of their overall vote nominee. Visit: www.GeezerJock.com/vote2007.html
The deadline for voting is December 15, and the results will be featured in the January/February issue of GeezerJock magazine.
