Lincoln, NE - You might not be able to predict what will happen next with Big Red Football, but you can certainly count on fantastic cyclo-cross racing at the Nebraska SOBE No Fear Cyclo-cross Weekend this weekend, November 17-18.
Riders from across the Midwest will descend on Pioneers Park in southwest Lincoln to take part in the eighth edition of this fantastic weekend of racing. The two-day event is a great tune-up for the Jingle Cross in Iowa City, November 24-25 and Cyclo-cross Nationals in Kansas City, December 13-16.
Some of the latest developments for the weekend include the scheduled appearance of Kim West and the VW micro "Coffee Bus," a load of swag courtesy of Cyclo-cross Nationals Promoter, Bill Marshall and the KCCX crew as well as the addition of a Singlespeed race with merchandise from Monkey Wrench Cycles awarded to the top 3 finishers.
Racing kicks off Saturday at noon and 11:00am on Sunday. Sunday's races will serve as the Nebraska USAC Cyclo-cross State Championship. All riders are welcome to compete, but only Nebraska annual license holders are eligible for state championship medals
Registration is available online at www.velosource.com or on race day at the Midwest TREK Stores mobile race headquarters. Registration will open 90 minutes before the first race each day.
The 1.5 mile course at Pioneers Park features a fast, rolling circuit with two barrier sections and a new double run-up that will simulate the double stair climb that will be featured at the Cyclo-cross National Championships in Kansas City December 13-16. A longer, flat road section coupled with the challenging off-road track gives the course a true Euro 'cross feel that favors neither roadies or off-road riders. It is truly a cyclo-cross course!
Parking is available next to the course and park bathrooms will be open to the public.
