Lincoln, NE - In five of the seven "Rider of the Year" categories, the 2007 Nebraska "Rider of the Year" titles are all pretty well locked up. It's in the Men's Category 1/2 and 4 that things have become interesting heading into the final two events of the season. In the Men's Category 4 standings, Nebraska Medical Center/Team Kaos rider, Justin Maresh has vaulted into first place after claiming the overall title at the 7th Annual Dave Babcook Memorial Stage Race this past weekend in Omaha. Maresh leads Duane Blair (Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club) by only 8 points. Midwest Cycling Club's, Don Raskey is 20 points behind falling to third overall after leading the standings.

Kevin Burke (Lincoln Industries-Lemond) continues to top the Men's 1/2 category with 652.5 points, but a closer look at the standings shows the title is not a sure thing. While teammate, Mike Munson sits in second with 642 points, Joe McWilliams (Nebraska Medical Center/Team Kaos) holds on to third with 547 points, just 105.5 points back.

The final two events of the 2007 Nebraska "Rider of the Year" will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 8-9. The 4th Annual ElMur Road Race (Nebraska State Championship RR) and Sue Hefle Memorial Grand Prix (Nebraska State Championship CR) are the last chances for riders score points and earn "Rider of the Year" honors.

Details for both of these events will be publushed on NebCycling in early August.
