Trails Have Our Respect (T.H.O.R), the local International Mountain Biking Association affiliate, is ten years old and to celebrate this landmark date T.HO.R. is offering discounted memberships and is launching it’s new look and website. Show your support for local trailbuilding and maintenance by signing up for only $10 and receive your free THOR T-shirt this Saturday July 7 at the Manawa Mountain Bike Mayhem XC.
If you’ve attended the last Psycowpath races you may have been given a THOR sticker or noticed the banner displaying a new logo. This year a new group of folks have teamed up to reorganize T.H.O.R. the local trail maintenance club in charge of taking care of the many off-road trails in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. “It was time to give the club a fresh look,” said Roxzanne Abbott, committee member in charge of marketing. “If cyclists see something bike-related and it’s cool, they’ll gravitate towards it. So, in hopes of raising more awareness about the organization, we made it more appealing”. Chad Hawthorne of Lincoln was given the charge to create a mark that appealed to all. The mission of the club is to maintain sustainable off-road recreational trails for all users, not just mountain bikers. So the logo had to tell that story graphically. Also, T.H.O.R. is working on a new website, trailshaveourrespect.org. On the site, users will soon be able to download trail maps and directions, get info on trail conditions and trail days as well as download membership forms. To celebrate T.H.O.R.’s ten year anniversary, memberships are only $10 for the rest of the riding season and when you sign up, you’ll get a cool trail crew T.H.O.R. t-shirt! Sign up sheets will be available at the Psycowpath races or download it off the website.
T.H.O.R. was started by the late Tony Naikelis, Anne Savory and Steve Dickey and Mike Resetar in 1997 after an early fall snow storm destroyed many of the trails. The club is recognized by the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), the international governing body for trail care and advocacy.
