Troy, OH - The Race Across America reaches the home stretch. As of Sunday morning, competitors are spread across 6 states. The lead relay team passed the lead solo racer on Saturday evening in Troy, Ohio.

Team Type 1, an 8-person relay team is expected to reach the finish in Atlantic City, NJ at dawn on Monday.  They are expected to have crossed the United States in less than six days!

The exciting race among the four-person relay teams of Beaver Creek-Catlin and Team Psycho will remain extremely exciting to the last mile. These two teams have been, literally, within sight of each other for the majority of the race. Wow!  With one day remaining, Beaver Creek - Catlin has inched ahead by 30+ minutes.  Will that be enough margin for victory?

The solo men are embarking on their last, grueling days, through the humidity-soaked hills of southern Ohio and West Virginia. Jure Robic appears to have a commanding lead of 6 hours, but, let's not forget that anything is possible in RAAM. Witness the apparent breakdowns of the three valiant Robic chasers. Wolfgang Fashing, Daniel Wyss, and Gerhard Gulewicz are all nursing challenging physical ailments which have slowed their speed considerably. All are true fighters, and will battle every mile.  The question may not be which of these three will reach the podium, but will they be able to hold off the charge of the fresh Richard Vollebregt?

The new RAAM website (http://www.raceacrossamerica.org) offers real-time, 24/7 coverage from roving reporters along the road, capturing all the drama, challenges, elation and heartbreak of this nonstop, coast-to-coast competition--in words (updated every 30 minutes), thousands of still photos, and several action-packed video clips per day.
