The 5th event in the 2007 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath MTB Series, the Ponca's Revenge Marathon, will be June 23rd at Ponca State Park just north of Ponca, Nebraska. Hosted by Sioux City Velo, this is the second marathon event in the season-long series and will start at 11AM. The duration of the event will be 4 hours for all racers except for the Beginners category which will run for 2 hours.

So, what's a Marathon?
These events feature longer race times than typical XC events. Specific race times differ from venue to venue, although typical race times for beginners may be 2 hours while more advanced riders for this event will compete for 4 hours or more. Rather than racing for a specified, short distance, riders are scored based on how many laps they complete before a particular time cutoff. Categories and team options (riders pair up and trade off responsibility of doing laps) at these events are designed to accommodate riders of all levels at the particular course. Racers that typically participate in the Expert categories (or above) are expected to race solo.
The Course
Ponca's Revenge is a Psycowpath classic! Located in Ponca State Park in the Missouri River bluffs, this course offers some of the best riding in northeast Nebraska. Expect plenty of long climbs that aren’t too technical, followed by swooping downhill sections. The course is true single track for 90% of the race. Big ring rolling sections, switch back climbs and open road passing all combine to offer riders the best in XC racing. Race loop is approximately 5 miles for all levels.

RegistrationPre-register at velosource.com or register the day of the event. On-site registration will be available at all events in the 2006 Psycowpath MTB events with the following guidelines:
1. Riders must present a current annual USA Cycling license at registration. Annual licenses may be purchased on-site for $60. If you have questions regarding USA Cycling licensing, visit www.usacycling.org.
2. One-day licenses will be available on-site for $10. Expert riders are not eligible to purchase one-day
licenses. Expert downgrades to SPORT, or Sport downgrades to beginner will not be allowed!
3. Registration opens at 8:00am and closes 15 minutes before each event.
How do I get there?
Take I-29 to Highway 20. Go west on Highway 20 to Highway 12. Take Highway 12 north to Ponca. There are signs for the park which is on the north edge of town. Follow signs to the visitors center for parking.
