The Cornhusker State Games will be a part of the Nebraska Cycling Association’s Rider of the Year competition. However, the event will consist only of a Time Trial and not a Criterium as listed in the CSG Official Entry Guide.

The course will consist of a 22 mile out and back route starting at the Yutan Veterans’s Country Club proceedin south on the Yutan Road towards Ashland. From the Yutan Road riders will curve into CR-J, then curve into CR-6, then curve into CR-G, then curve into CR-4, then making a 180 degree turn just before HWY 66(63).

The terrain starts with some small rolling hills near Yutan and flattens out toward the far portion of the course. The road has no shoulder, but minimal traffic and is in good condition. Parking and toilets will be available at the starting point at the Yutan Veterans’s Country Club located just south of Yutan on the Yutan Road. Yutan is located about 50 miles northeast of Lincoln and 20 miles east of Omaha on HWY 92.

Rider of the Year winners from 2006 will have entry fees refunded at check-in the day of the race.

Updates will be posted on the Nebraska Cycling News Website regarding changes if any and start times. First rider will go off at approximately 9AM.

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!

"The Race Across The Sky" Leadville Trail 100

"Your from Nebraska?" the gal at medical check in asked. "Yes" Steve replied. "So you’re taking the high altitude medication Diamox then?" she asked. "No" Steve replied, having never heard of it. "Oh Boy!" she said with a tone of amazement and worry. "Good Luck!"
