This weekend, the 2nd Annual Monumental Memorial Cycling Weekend takes to the roads of southeast Nebraska.

The 3-day cycling weekend features a challenging road race, individual time trial and final day criterium. Riders are encouraged to sign-up for all three races, but registration is available for the individual events. An omnium format will track riders progress and points will be awarded for place in each event. Medals will be awarded to the top three point finishers in each category that compete in all three events for the weekend AND the top rider will receive a FREE entry to all of the events in the 2008 Monumental Memorial Cycling Weekend.

You must compete and finish all three events to be eligible for the omnium prizes.
For 2007, the Monumental Memorial Cycling Weekend has moved to a new set of courses for the Saturday and Sunday road race and time trial. The “Old West Trail” will highlight these new, rolling circuits, which will take riders over the southern roads of Gage County.

Gage County offers some of the most unique terrain available in Nebraska with quiet country roads and beautiful views. And the gracious hospitality of the residents and businesses of Beatrice and Gage County make this race the best way to spend your Memorial Weekend!

Featured Stories

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!

"The Race Across The Sky" Leadville Trail 100

"Your from Nebraska?" the gal at medical check in asked. "Yes" Steve replied. "So you’re taking the high altitude medication Diamox then?" she asked. "No" Steve replied, having never heard of it. "Oh Boy!" she said with a tone of amazement and worry. "Good Luck!"
