June 9th and 10th for its second year bigger and better! The Elkhorn Valley Cycling Cycling Club powered by Monster has taken the best from the first year of the Classic and added an old favorite to put together a race that is truly worthy of the name "Classic."

This year the race will be an omnium format. One entry fee covers entry into the road race, time trial and criterium but only two of the three races need be completed to qualify for the overall win and prize money. The finishers of each race will be awarded points down to 20 places.  First place in the RR and TT are each worth 20 points but first in the crit is 35 points making the crit finish the determining factor for the weekend. Yellow leader jerseys from Monster will be awarded at the end of each day to select category leaders.

Returning venues this year are the time trial route and the popular crit course. Added for 2007 is the Stanton road race route in the hills of southeast Stanton County. Those that have raced it speak of it reverently and new racers will leave with a new respect for northeast Nebraska race venues.

The 2007 Norfolk Classic is part of the 2007 Nebraska Rider of the Year series and is the second stop of three for USCF/NORBA racing in Northeast Nebraska. Don't miss the Classic or the Nebraska State Time Trial Championship or the Psycowpath Maskenthine XC Classic. Northeast Nebraska is rapidly becoming the second hub of racing in Nebraska. Come see why in June.

You can't race if you don't enter, and you can't win if you don't race! Get your entries posted at www.velosource.com today!

Featured Stories

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!

"The Race Across The Sky" Leadville Trail 100

"Your from Nebraska?" the gal at medical check in asked. "Yes" Steve replied. "So you’re taking the high altitude medication Diamox then?" she asked. "No" Steve replied, having never heard of it. "Oh Boy!" she said with a tone of amazement and worry. "Good Luck!"
