2007 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals, May 11-13

Don't miss this unique opportunity to be a part of the most exciting cycling event in the greater Lawrence area.  Over 400 collegiate cyclists from the best universities throughout the U.S. will race on our roads during 3 energy-packed days. 

                We need your help and your cheers!

This is the third and final year that Lawrence will host the USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals. Help make it a success!

• Volunteer and get front row seats to the thrill, the intensity, the battle, the suspense, the blood and the tears.
• Volunteer and make Lawrence the best host.
• Volunteer and be the first to support our very own KU and K-State teams as they take on mighty opponents from Colorado and California.
• Volunteer and receive a commemorative t-shirt, yummy sandwiches and Starbucks coffee

 Available volunteer positions are:
    • set-up crew
    • tear-down crew
    • road crossing monitors

Team Time Trial (Friday, May 11) @ K10 Bypass, Lawrence
SET-UP: 6am-8am
SHIFT 1: 8am-Noon, road crossing monitor
TEAR-DOWN: 11:30am-1pm

Road Race (Saturday, May 12) @ Lake Perry
SET-UP: 6am-8am
SHIFT 1: 7:30am-11:30am, road crossing monitor
SHIFT 2: 11:15am-3pm, road crossing monitor
TEAR-DOWN: 3-4pm

Criterium (Sunday, May 13) @ downtown Lawrence
SET-UP:  4am-7:30am
SHIFT 1: 6:40am-10am, road crossing monitor
SHIFT 2: 9:45am-1pm, road crossing monitor
TEAR-DOWN:  12:45pm-2pm


Shift Description:
Set-Up or Tear-Down Crew: manual labor, setting up and moving barriers and signs. Your job will ensure the safety of cyclists and fans alike.
Road-Crossing Monitor: sitting or standing, watching for pedestrian/car traffic, friendly smile but firm stance. Your job will ensure the safety of cyclists and fans alike. AND, it will allow you to be the expert to explain the race to bystanders and pedestrians!

Quick Updates

Starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday December 20th and continuing this winter when the temps are low, group stationary bike training rides will take place at  The Cathedral of the Risen Christ Gym located at 3245 S 37th St, aka 37th & Sheridan Blvd. Bring your bike, stationary trainer, something to protect the floor from your stand (mat, towel) and some change as a free will for lights.  Monsignor Tucker has made this location available.  We will have a big screen showing cycling DVDs.  You can come as early as 7:00 to set up, and we will be ending around 9:30 and out by 10:00.  Feel free to come and go as you please during the session. 

The Gym floor needs to be protected.  Please remove your shoes if they have cleats.
