Canadian Svein Tuft Captures Win at U.S. Open

Colorado Springs, Colo. (April 9, 2007)—After two events, Levi Leipheimer (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and his Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team continue to top the overall standings of the inaugural USA Cycling Professional Tour.

As the overall winner of the AMGEN Tour of California in February, Leipheimer leads German Jens Voigt (Team CSC) and Canadian Svein Tuft (Symmetrics Cycling), the winner of Saturday’s U.S. Open in Virginia.

Tuft won the second event on the season-long calendar to score 80 points and move into third place overall.  Second-place finisher in the U.S. Open and USA Cycling National Development Team alum, Patrick McCarty (Allen, Texas/Slipstream-Chipotle) is currently ranked fourth, while Argentinean Juan Jose Haedo (Team CSC) rounds out the top five.

In the overall team standings, The Discovery Channel leads Team CSC as Symmetrics Cycling, T-Mobile and Slipstream-Chipotle complete the top five.

The 2007 USA Cycling Professional Tour continues with the Tour de Georgia April 16-22.

Quick Updates

Starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday December 20th and continuing this winter when the temps are low, group stationary bike training rides will take place at  The Cathedral of the Risen Christ Gym located at 3245 S 37th St, aka 37th & Sheridan Blvd. Bring your bike, stationary trainer, something to protect the floor from your stand (mat, towel) and some change as a free will for lights.  Monsignor Tucker has made this location available.  We will have a big screen showing cycling DVDs.  You can come as early as 7:00 to set up, and we will be ending around 9:30 and out by 10:00.  Feel free to come and go as you please during the session. 

The Gym floor needs to be protected.  Please remove your shoes if they have cleats.
