Independence, MO - The eight-mile course at William Landahl Park Reserve was the perfect match for four Nebraska riders during the Spoke Pony Showdown on March 6. Kent McNeill (Highgear/Trek Omaha) of Omaha won the Men’s 3-Hour Solo race after taking the lead from Tige Lamb after the first of five laps. McNeill’s winning time was 3:31:27, nearly two minutes better than Mark Studnicki (3:33:18). Roxzanne Abbott (Bike Masters) of Omaha ran away with the Women's 3-Hour Solo event, lapping the field and completing four laps in 3:37:02. In the Men's 6-Hour Solo race, Matt Gersib (Monkey Wrench/Salsa Cycles) of Lincoln took top honors. He led from the start and completed eight laps (64 miles) in 6:38:45. Josh Patterson was second, 4:15 behind Gersib. Sydney Brown (Lincoln Plating) of Lincoln won the Women’s 6-Hour Solor race, lapping all but one rider (Danielle Musto) in the process.
