The 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series will host a banquet and celebration at one of the areas most popular mountain bike venues, Platte River State Park (Mallet Lodge) on November 11.

After a season of races plagued by wet weather, this is one Psycowpath event that promises free food, refreshments, family entertainment, great trails, and most important, a climate controlled shelter.  The 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series has many things to celebrate: great trails, involved clubs, supportive families, enthusiastic fans, culture, character, individualism, fantastic sportsmanship, and a collective comaraderie that creates and rekindles friendships at every race.

The 2006 Psycowpath Banquet will feature an afternoon and evening of activities for everyone in the family.

2-4pm:  MTB Ride on the Horse Trails (meet 1:45pm, ride leaves Mallet Lodge at 2pm)

Guided Hikes for families leave Mallet Lodge at 2pm and 3pm.

Kids Movies on projection screen and other activities in Mallet Lodge.

5pm-6pm: Spaghetti Dinner at Mallet Lodge

6pm-8pm: Awards Ceremony and Celebration-- includes series winners, recognition of state champions, additional prizes including the new PsyCow Spirit Award, and the grand prize raffle for the  Kona Cruiser donated by Monkey Wrench Cycles.  The evening will wrap up with the rollout of the 2007 Psycowpath Schedule.

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!

"Your from Nebraska?" the gal at medical check in asked. "Yes" Steve replied. "So you’re taking the high altitude medication Diamox then?" she asked. "No" Steve replied, having never heard of it. "Oh Boy!" she said with a tone of amazement and worry. "Good Luck!"
