UPDATES:

  • Individual Time Trial and Collegiate Team Time Trial length is 12.8 miles.
  • Men Masters 35+ is a stage race ONLY.

The 4th Annual Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17, 2005. With a prize list of $6000, the fourth installment of this early season event should be the best and most highly attended race, yet. Last year, the Lincoln Plating spring Cycling Classic raised over $3700 for the Willard Community Center in Lincoln, which provides support and programs for youth and adults in West Lincoln.

The two day event will feature a stage race, including a road race, time trial and criterium for riders in the Pro 1/2, Senior Men 3, Senior Men 4, Men Masters 35+, Senior Women 1/2/3 and select Junior categories. The stage race will be a NCCA collegiate event, also. The road race and criterium will be offered separately for riders in the Senior Men 5, Senior Women 4, Men Masters 45+ and 55+, as well as select Junior categories.

The Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic will serve as the curtain-raiser for the 2005 Midwest Maxxis Cup, which is a regional point series to determine the top cyclists in various categories. Maxxis product will be awarded to top finishers at the Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic.

In addition to the Midwest Maxxis Cup tie-in, the Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic will be a "Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic Race Series" event. This new development is an exciting one for the organizers of the Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic and should draw some top talent from around the region to compete in the Junior ranks. Specific Junior categories and the schedule of events are available in the "Race Bible."

Pre-registration is required for the 4th Annual Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic and will be available online beginning Monday, February 14, 2005 at 6:00pm (CST). The official online registration site for the Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic is www.velosource.com. It is fast, secure, convenient and has no additional fees! Pre-registration by mail is available, too. Please refer to the "Race Bible" for complete information on race registration. Registration for the 4th Annual Lincoln Plating Spring Cycling Classic closes at 8:00pm on Friday, April 15, 2005.

Featured Stories

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!

"The Race Across The Sky" Leadville Trail 100

"Your from Nebraska?" the gal at medical check in asked. "Yes" Steve replied. "So you’re taking the high altitude medication Diamox then?" she asked. "No" Steve replied, having never heard of it. "Oh Boy!" she said with a tone of amazement and worry. "Good Luck!"
