Late into the night on Thursday, telephone calles were made, rainfall was considered, and conditions were assessed. Due to an excess of 2" of rainfall in the last 5 days, majority of which has occurred in the last 24 hours, conditions are unsafe and unacceptable for racing. Indian Caves features some of the steepest grades, and due to frequent equestrian use and often poor trail design, the trails do not drain quickly and become extremely dangerous in the wet. Coupled with the length & remote nature of the trails, and the distance to medical services, safety of the riders is of the upmost concern. On thursday, the Park Ranger described the course as very muddy, prior to Thursdays rainfall-- and strongly recommended against racing. Conditions are not in place for the safe, accessible, and fun event desired.
