Photo John Peterson Bellevue, NE - 100+ riders descended on Swanson Park Saturday, Sept 16th, for the 7th installment of the 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series. Hosted in top form by Midwest Wheelmasters/Lincolon Plating Lemond road racing team, Swanson Park served as the ideal venue for the 2006 XC State Championships. Despite thunderstorms in Nebraska on Fri and late into Friday evening, Swanson Park received less than .25" of rain in the 36 hours leading up to the event. Riders found race conditions to be nearly perfect. High winds helped cool riders who were racing 2, 4, and up to 6 laps in the hot, humid temperatures.
Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen) ruled again in the Expert Open Division, completing 6 laps im 2:04. Kent McNeill, owner of Highgear/Trek Bicycle Store of Omaha, came in second, and took the State Championship as the first Nebraska resident across the line just under 3 minutes back.
Check beck often to NebraskaCyclingNews.com for complete results. Series points totals, which were on display at Swanson, are being updated with Swanson's results and will be posted online Monday. The awards ceremony for the series points competition will be held next Saturday, Sept 23 at Indian Cave State Park's Rave in the Cave marathon event. The Rave in the Cave is also riders' last chance to get their name in the hat for yet another chance to win the Kona cruiser from Monkey Wrench Cycles.
