The 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series continues on August 19th, at Swanson Park in Bellevue.  Swanson is the site of the Nebraska XC State Championship, and will feature State Championship medals for all categories (in addition to the regular Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath prizes).  The 2006 XC State Championships is expected to draw record numbers of competitors, especially in the beginner categories, due to the relatively flat, fast, twisty course.  The event is being hosted by Midwest Wheelmasters-- who are known for their commitment to quality cycling events in Nebraska.  Race bible is available here.

After rain has muddied a few events, riders are looking forward to the fast, dry course at Swanson Park.  Beginner and Junior categories start at 10am, while Sport and Expert categories start at noon.  Stay tuned to Nebraskacyclingnews.com to see series points standings posted over the weekend.

More about Swanson Park:

THE COURSE: This “flat” course was built a few years ago for bikers and equestrians and it’s the perfect place to introduce you to mountain bike racing. It’s a fast, flowing course of mostly single track with some really nice technical sections including log crossings, g-outs and triple bowls. It loops tightly within a relatively small area, so you’re never far from the start. Race loop is approximately 4 miles for all levels.

THE VENUE: Swanson Park has a nice playground for the family and lots of open field for kids or your dog to run. There is a porta-potty on location and a large shaded shelter with tables. This is a great place to walk dog or hike the trails and watch the racers battle it out up close.

DIRECTIONS:  Take Hwy 75 south from I-80 to the Cornhusker Rd. exit. Go west on Cornhusker to approximately 34th St.  Look for a brick sign with scrolling red letters for the Fire Department Training Center. Turn north and the park entrance is about 75 yards down the road on the left.
