Nebraska Sports
Council officials said today that it's not too late to register for the 2005 N-Lighten Nebraska Team Wellness
Program. As of noon Friday more than 5,000 Nebraskans had signed up, including nearly 2,000 in the all-new
N-Lighten Kids program.
"We allow sign-up throughout the program, but obviously, to get the most out of
it, people need to get registered by February 1," Executive Director Dave Mlnarik said. N-Lighten
Nebraska begins Feb. 1 and ends June 1, while N-Lighten Kids runs Feb. 1 - May 1. The goal of both
programs is to help Nebraskans achieve better health by developing good nutrition habits and becoming more
physically active. Last year, a record 5,799 N-Lighten Nebraska entrants logged 1.77 million activity
miles and adult participants lost more than eight tons of unwanted weight. Officials are hopeful that as
many as 10,000 will participate this year. Entry forms and information are available at www.cornhuskerstategames.com or by calling the
Nebraska Sports Council at 1-800-30-GAMES. N-Lighten Nebraska is conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council,
in conjunction with the Nebraska Health & Human Services System and the University of Nebraska Cooperative
Extension. Other contributing organizations and businesses include: Tiger Coaching and Personal Training,
Nebraska YMCA's, Nebraska On The Move, Walk Nebraska, WelCom, WorkWell, Well Workplace Nebraska and
