Jay Chesterman, contact person for Sioux City Velo which is hosting Ponca's Revenge Marathon, reported this morning that Ponca didn't receive any rain and is dry as a bone. Jay mentioned that some rain tonight would actually improve the trail conditions for the fourth Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath race on Saturday, June 10.
Unless there is several continuous hours of rain tonight and early Saturday morning, Chesterman sees the race starting as scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Jay will be talking with the Park Superintendent Saturday at 7 a.m. who has the final say on trail conditions. We will post his decision on nebraskacyclingnews.com in the Racing Posts Forum.
Jay also mentioned that the mass start will not be a LeMans style but will include a long grassy section for sorting out positions before dumping into the singletrack. Riders will be grouped from front to back by their NORBA ranking - Pro, Semi Pro, Expert, Sport, Beginner, Junior.
The race length, trail, and beautiful setting will make this a race to remember. Temperatures in the low 60's and a cloudy forecast will provide a cool environment for four hours of racing.
See you at Ponca's Revenge!
