Cyclo-cross Film Making a Midwest Stop
Pure Sweet Hell, a documentary by Brian Vernor and Willie Bullion, explores the passion, pain, and pleasure
of cyclocross racing, while providing an intimate view of the kinship and clashes that comprise this unique
"discipline" of cycling.
{mosbanner:id=5:left:0} Filmmaker and co-director, Brian
Vernor, will be on hand to introduce the Midwest premiere of Pure Sweet Hell at Lincoln¹s Mary Riepma Ross Media
Arts Center, Friday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. (reception to follow at Bricktop, 1427 O St.). Through
creative cinematography and eclectic, original music, this hour-long film captures the essence of what makes
cyclocross, its culture, and its community such a distinctive movement. Pure Sweet Hell features footage from the
last three cyclocross seasons all over the US. Shot on location in North American 'cross strongholds such as
Portland, Gloucester, Napa, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Tacoma, and Olympia, and featuring 'cross luminaries
Justin Robinson, Gina Hall, Barry Wicks, Rick Hunter, Bob Leibold, Thomas Frischknecht, Mike Ferrentino, and Jeff
Clark, the film¹s aim, as Vernor explains, is to "educate people who don't already know about the sport,
and reflect American cyclocross racing as we see it: a contradiction of pain and goodness, which just isn't
for everyone." To see the Pure Sweet Hell trailer, visit: www.pilarcitos.com http://www.pilarcitos.com/ To read an interview with co-director,
