Fayetteville, Ark. - Mark Brackenbury of Team Kaos earned his first career victory at one of the nation's most prestigious stage races.
Brackenbury escaped the field in the Masters 35+ criterium with a handful of laps remaining and held on for a 28-second victory over CRRC's Thomas Knoblauch of Norman, Okla.
Brackenbury's win wasn't the only impressive result garnered by Nebraskans during the three-day, four-stage NRC event that attracted more than 600 competitors.
Jarred Berger of Team Kaos tied national time trial champion Chris Wherry (Toyota-United Pro) for 16th place in Saturday’s 2.5-mile uphill time trial and wound up in a three-way tie for 14th overall, 50 seconds behind Pro-I-II winner Gord Fraser of Health Net-Maxxis.
Lincoln Bicycle Company's Tony Wilhelm captured the Cat. III division while Team Kaos' Jason Kingsbury finished fifth in the time trial and sixth in the road race to wind up sixth overall, 2:38 behind.
