Tranquility Tire Tantrum Starts of the MTB Season in a Big Way!
The first event in the 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series saw record turnout at Tranquiility Park in Omaha. After severe thunderstorms on Thursday, Friday's winds dried the course and sunny skies made for near perfect conditions at the Tranquility Tire Tantrum, hosted by Bike Masters Cycling Club. Over 120 racers participated in the events, which included a kids race complete with top-notch singletrack, prizes, ribbons, and more!
Iowa racers Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen's) and Jay Chesterman (Sioux
City Velo) dominated the noon expert event with first and second place
finishes, respectively. Matt Landon took third place, while fourth and
fifth went to Greg Shimonek and Steve Jarrett of the Cycling Club of
Nebraska. The expert event started fast with a break of 8 riders
pulling away. As the race progressed, the top group of experts was
splintered apart, with Kirkpatrick pulling ahead to a dominating lead
that lasted to the end.
The next event in the 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series is set for April 29, at one of the most popular venues in the series, Swanson Park in Bellevue.
