Nebraska Cycling News

The Bike Way Racing team travelled to Lawrence, KS for the annual "Ride with the Devil MTB Race" at Clinton Lake, March 12.  Looking to get an early start on the intensity of racing, several members competed across a variety of events.  After severe weather, including tornadoes, swept through Lawrence just 3 hours prior to start times, the weather (mostly) cleared and warmed up allowing a great day for racing. 

Other Omaha riders & teams included Cory Hill & Bob Wieck (Cycling Club of Nebraska) in the marathon category, with Jason Kingsbury of Team Kaos taking third in the marathon open, his first mountain bike event.  Maryin Bixby (Cycling Club of Nebraska)  competed in the sport men masters category.

Competing in the sport category were new Bike Way Racing team members Nathan Hogenmiller and Nick Rolfsmeier.  With only a few mountain bike races under their belts, Hogenmiller and Rolfsmeier are anxious to get experience, and both enjoyed the challenge of one of the rockiest courses around. 

New to the Bike Way Racing team, Christine Bixby competed in her first cycling competition and earned the third spot on the podium in the women's beginner event. The Bike Way Racing Team veteran Roxzanne Abott earned the top spot in the female marathon category, alongside Ryan Feagan with a win in the marathon open category.  Feagan broke away early earning a 90 second advantage in the first lap and gained time each lap to cover 42 miles in 3:09.  Info on the bike Way Racing Team can be found at www.thebikeway.com and thebikeway.blogspot.com.  Watch for The Bike Way Racing Team to be in full swing at upcoming Psycowpath events, starting at the March 25th Tranquility Tire Tantrum.
