The 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath MTB Series starts Saturday, March 25, at Tranquility Park, Omaha, two miles west of I-680 on Fort St. Hosted by Bike Masters Cycling Club, the Tranquility Tire Tantrum is the first of 8 events in the Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series, and the first of five cross country events. The four mile trail has extended climbs and descents of 7% on average; prairie grass, riparian, and evergreen flora; and is 90% singletrack with a sprinkling of technical trail features. A great trail for beginners to cut their teeth on and yet fun for experienced riders as well. A new GPS map with a topographic profile is available in the Trail Maps section of www.trailshaveourrespect.org . Since 2004, Trails Have Our Respect and Bike Masters Cycling Club have invested over 400 volunteer hours in Omaha's first authorized mountain bike trail. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m., Junior and Beginner race starts at 10:00, Sport and Expert at 12:00. Each of those four categories are divided into three or more classes (age/gender brackets) so there are lots of prizes available. The prize list includes medals, gift certificates, merchandise, and cash payouts. All first time racers will be recognized and receive a prize. All registrants will receive swag. In addition, each finisher receives points towards the overall cross-country series championship. The top three overall in each class receive trophies and the champion receives free entry (not including license) into all 2007 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath MTB Series XC races! Food, picnic tables, restrooms, and music are available in the Registration-Finish-Expo area. Bring the family, friends, and pets. |
