Junior phenom Alex Boyd (Hot Tubes) displayed impressive power in his 18-year old legs to grab first place at the 2nd Annual Elmwood-Murdock Road Race saturday afternoon in Elmwood, NE.

Boyd, who recently moved back to Papillion from southern California, edged Team Kaos/Nebraska Medical Center veteran, Joe McWilliams by half a bike length after a brutal 58-mile contest, which took riders on the roads in and around Elmwood, Murdock and South Bend. Rounding out the top three was Lincoln Plating-Lemond rider, Jon Randell. By finishing the event, Randell locked up the Cat. 1/2 Men "Rider of the Year" championship.

The event attracted (85) riders from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and one rider, Jay Claussen from Massachusetts, who is visiting family in Omaha this weekend.

Other top finishers included:  Michael Munson (Cycling Club of Nebraska) in Men Cat. 3, James Grooms (GP Velotek) in Men Cat. 4, Morgan Chaffin (Team Kaos) in the Women's Open event, William Abrahams (Revolution Cycling) in Senior Men Cat. 5, Matt Farnham (Team Kaos) in Cat. 5 Open, Greg Shimonek (Cycling Club of Nebraska) in Men Masters 35+, Fred Galata in Men Masters 45+ and Gary Schmidt (Team Kaos) in Men Masters 55+.
