The 2005 Psycowpath MTB series presented by the Nebraska Lottery crosses the border into Iowa for the "Hitchcock MTB Challenge" this Saturday, August 20, 2005.

Set in the beautiful Loess Hills of Crescent, Iowa, this course will have you using all your gears. The course takes riders through dense hilly forest areas on dirt single and double track. With more elevation gain per lap than many national races (700ft in only 5 miles!), the gorgeous scenery is lost on most competitors! The race loop is approximately 4.5 miles for all levels.

Hitchcock Nature Area is a conservation area, so this is the only time of year it is made available for riding! There is limited primitive and RV camping available near the race course, as well as two cabins. At the top of the course, near the staging area, you can look down onto acres of wooded Loess Hills from the deck of an observatory that’s popular with the bird-watching crowd. There are modern bathrooms and plenty of shade.

From I-29, head north from Council Bluffs to the Crescent exit (6 miles). Go east into Crescent to the T-intersection. Turn north and follow the highway out of town about 4 miles and it will curve west. Shortly after the curve there will be a sign for Hitchcock on the left.
