Tim Farnham (Team Kaos) broke away from the field on Lap 1 and never looked back riding to an impressive solo victory at the Blue's Bike & Fitness Capital City Criterium, sunday afternoon at Southwest High School in Lincoln. The 75-minute Pro 1/2/3 event was contested under clear skies and blistering temperatures. The stifling heat and strong south winds did little to slow down Farnham, who recently upgraded to Category 2.

"I have been riding well lately and just went with it at the beginning of the race," said Farnham, who claimed his second first place finish in as many weeks. Farnham took top honors on Stage 3 at the Baldwin City Stage Race in Baldwin, KS last week.

While Farnham powered to his first place finish, the battle behind included three separate chases. A three man chase including Mike Munson (Cycling Club of Nebraska), Kelly Soden (Lincoln Plating-Lemond) and Steve Muhle (Team Kaos) closed within :14 of Farnham at one point, but could not close the deal. Behind them another three man break including Mike Campie (Revolution Cycling), Jon Randell (Lincoln Plating-Lemond) and Wes Leithoff (Cycling Club of Nebraska) broke free of the field and with 2 laps to go caught the first chase group. With Farnham already across the line, the race behind came down to a firld sprint with Randell just edging Muhle in the sprint.

In other events, Robert Griegg (unattached) won the field sprint to claim top honors in the Men's Cat. 4 event. Steve Muhle (Team Kaos) was first in the Masters 35+ race. Team Kaos riders, Marie Neville and Emily Farnham won the Women's 1/2/3 and Cat. 4 contests, respectively.Other first place finishers included Duane Blair in the Men's Cat. 5, Mike Madcharo in Masters 45+ and Thomas Jones in Masters 55+.
