Trails Have Our Respect (T.H.O.R.) members have been busy in the background this year preparing race courses and working on minor expansion and signing projects at local riding areas. The next work party is scheduled for Ponca State Park, Sunday May 29-30. If interested contact Mike Resetar at 402 813-2758 or resetar1@cox.net. Recently many riders and racers commented on the excellent conditions of the mountain bike trails at Lewis and Clark Monument. This magical work did not happen by "trail fairies", but through the hard work of our local trail advocacy group, T.H.O.R. We are looking for more help through the year. We are only asking for small commitments. Here is how you can help: 1. Become a member, go to www.TrailsHaveOurRespect.org. This is the single most important thing a rider can do to show their support. This helps with funding work and new equipment, and gaining land manager support with new trail projects by showing strength in numbers. Download the membership PDF and join today! 2. Volunteer 1 or 2 days per year for trail work. Every race course this year is being prepared under the guidance of T.H.O.R. and in return the Psyscowpath promoters have agreed to make a cash donation that will be used to purchase much need trail maintenance equipment. Prep work will be done in the 2 to 3 weeks prior to an event. Check the T.H.O.R. calendar for details. Race course prep is a major project with only 2-3 volunteers, but with 10-15, we can accomplish the work usually in a morning and be riding by afternoon. 3. Stop unauthorized trail work. Even with very good intentions, trail work that is not cleared ahead of time can damage the reputation of riders with local land managers.
