The 2005 Cornhusker State Games competitive cycling events are set for Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17, 2005. This year, the CSG road event will be a stage race format with a saturday individual time trial and road race at Branched Oak Lake followed by a sunday circuit race at Pioneers Park in Lincoln.

CYCLING-STAGE RACE (Time Trial / Road Race / Circuit Race)
TIME TRIAL/ROAD RACE DATE AND TIME: Saturday, July 16 Approx. start times (7:30 a.m. Division “C”) (8 a.m. Division “B”) (8:30 a.m. Division “A”) ALL competitors will start in succession. Please arrive 30 minutes early to check in.
SITE: Branched Oak State Recreation Area, 15 miles northwest of Lincoln. Start and finish near Liebers Point on the west side of Branched Oak Lake (Area 3, watch for signs)
ENTRY FEE: $32 if entered by June 20. Save $2 by entering online. $5 late fee if received between June 21 and June 27. Entry fee includes athlete T-shirt, passes to the Opening Ceremonies and Family Fest and a copy of the CSG Official Program.
COMPETITION FORMAT: Athletes must complete all three stages to be eligible for medals. Medals will be determined on a “points for place” basis. Point scale will be published on nebraskacycling.org one week prior to the event. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers from each stage. Time Trial races cover one lap of the road race course, except the 17 & Under age groups which use an out and back 4.3-mile course. The Road Race utilizes one or more laps of a scenic 11.2 mile course on paved roads encircling Branched Oak Lake (right turns only).
GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ROAD RACE EVENTS: All USCF-sanctioned riders must ride in their designated categories. No personal sag vehicles. Medalists from 2004 Division “B” and/or Cat 5 men categories are required to upgrade to Division “A”. Age determined as of July 16, 2005.
CIRCUIT RACE DATE AND TIME: Sunday, July 17 Lapped riders MAY be pulled for safety and to aid officials in picking medalists at the finish. Riders will still get points. SITE: Pioneers Park, SW 28th Street and West Van Dorn Street, Lincoln. Use north entrance off of West Van Dorn Street.

The race will start and end on the road north of the Pinewood Bowl entrance. It will consist of multiple laps on the roads to the east and surrounding the Pinewood Bowl. This is a mass start event for each division.
RULES: All USCF rules will apply. Aero-bars are allowed in the time trial only. Yellow-line rule will be strictly enforced. All riders must wear ANSI-approved helmets. Riders are expected to ride safely and courteously. Race director reserves the right to combine categories and alter race distances.
SPECIAL NOTICE: State Park permits are needed to enter Branched Oak State Recreation Area. The $3 per vehicle one-day or $17 per vehicle annual permits may be purchased at the park. Absolutely NO PARKING on the shoulders of the road.
