Host Cities Announced For 2008 Tour of Missouri Print E-mail

One day added, four new cities announced

tofmo-logoJefferson City, Mo. - Twelve cities around the Show Me State have been selected as Start or Finish cities for the second edition of the Tour of Missouri, an elite, point-to-point cycling stage race to be held September 8-14, 2008.

The second Tour of Missouri has been extended from six to seven days after an extremely successful inaugural event in 2007, and will showcase some of the state's most beautiful roads and rolling terrain, rich history, and diverse scenery, from the start in St. Joseph, site of the Pony Express, to Kansas City, to the Ozarks, to the bourgeoning wine country, culminating with a blockbuster weekend again with stops in historic St. Charles and the ultimate finish in St. Louis with the Gateway Arch as a backdrop.

Fifteen-Event National Championship Calendar Complete for 2008 Racing Season

usac-logoColorado Springs, Colo. - The 2008-09 USA Cycling Master Road National Championships were awarded to Louisville, Ky., the national governing body announced today.

The 2008 edition will be held from June 30 to July 6 and will feature national championship competitions in road race, time trial and criterium events for amateur road cyclists age 30 and up.

Thirty-Five Athletes Nominated in Mountain Bike, Track and Women's Road Cycling

Colorado Springs, Colo. (January 22, 2008)-USA Cycling announced today the 35 athletes that are eligible to represent the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in the disciplines of mountain bike, track and women's road cycling.

As part of its nomination process, USA Cycling named a Long Team of eligible athletes in the disciplines of men's and women's mountain bike and women's road cycling.  Additionally, its Talent Pool of track athletes will serve as a list of riders from which this summer's Olympic Team will named.

U.S Closes Competition with Gold in Women's Keirin, Bronze in Team Pursuit

Carson, Calif. - The United States closed out the Los Angeles Track World Cup on Sunday with a pair of medals as Jennie Reed (Kirkland, Wash.) claimed a gold medal in the keirin and USA Cycling's Women's Team Pursuit program made its international debut with a bronze medal.

Quinn's Seventh-Place Effort in Women's Points Race Top American Finish on Saturday

Carson, Calif. - After collecting three medals on Friday at the Los Angeles Track World Cup, Americans came away empty-handed in day two on Saturday.  With 13 athletes in action, the top U.S. performance of the day came from Becky Quinn (Quakertown, Pa.) who placed seventh in the women's 20-kilometer points race.
