Gould, Forsman Claim Pan American Mountain Bike Titles

Nequen, Argentina -The United States Mountain Bike Team swept the elite women's podium and collected a total of eight medals - two of them gold - at the Continental Mountain Bike Championships in Nequen, Argentina on Sunday.

Discovery Channel Rider Takes AMGEN Tour of California from Start to Finish

Santa Clarita, Calif. - AMGEN Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer (Santa Rosa, Calif./Discovery Channel) became the first leader of the inaugural USA Cycling Professional Tour on Sunday after winning the eight-day series opener.  Leipheimer captured the yellow jersey last Sunday in the event's opening prologue in San Francisco and held it throughout the race's finish in Long Beach a week later to become the first leader of the 14-race professional-only series.

USA Cycling National Development Team Riders Bookwalter, Fairly Prepared to Finish

Santa Clarita, Calif. - An intense day of racing ended when Juan Jose Haedo (CSC) of Argentina captured his second stage win of the week as the 2007 AMGEN Tour of California nears its conclusion Sunday in Long Beach. 

Haedo won the field-sprint finish of the 169-kilometer stage six from Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita Saturday as overall leader Levi Leipheimer (Santa Rosa, Calif.) relied heavily upon his Discovery Channel teammates to keep the yellow jersey with just one stage remaining.

McCartney Moves into Third Overall

Solvang, Calif. - Levi Leipheimer (Santa Rosa, Calif./Discovery Channel) extended his overall lead over German Jens Voigt (CSC) in the AMGEN Tour of California with a victory in the stage-five time trial in Solvang on Friday.  Leipheimer clocked a winning time of 29 minutes, 40.44 seconds to win the 23.5-kilometer race against the clock.  In doing so, he added an additional 18 seconds to his overall lead.

Leipheimer Retains Jersey, Fairly top USA Cycling Development Team Finisher in San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Reigning World Champion Paolo Bettini (Quick Step-Innergetic) of Italy captured his first career win on American soil with a victory in stage four of the AMGEN Tour of California Thursday.  Bettini edged reigning U23 World Champion Gerald Ciolek (T-Mobile) of Germany in a sprint finish at the end of the 213-kilometer stage from Seaside to San Luis Obispo.
