With Lewis & Clark race being cancelled, the Psycowpath series will have a total of 6 XC races in 2008. Each racer is allowed to drop two of the 6 total so final points will be calculated from each racer's four best scores. Only racers who completed at least four Psycowpath events will be eligible for Series Medals of 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

There are two races left in the 2008 season. A new venue, Area 7 at Branched Oak Lake on Sept 13th, and our beloved Lake Manawa will finish out the season on Sept 27!  Two more races and two more chances to edge out your competitors!  Stay tuned to NebraskaCyclingNews.com for series points updates and info on upcoming events!

The highly contested Expert race was lead off with Kevin Limpach (Midwest Cycling Community) of Omaha, Nebr taking the hole shot  along with Darin Schlake (Monkey Wrench) of Lincoln, Nebr and Kent McNeill (Midwest Cycling Community) of Omaha, Nebr. close behind on the first lap.  In the end it came down to Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen/Orbea) of Urbandale, IA  and Kent McNeill to battle it out.  Kent McNeill took second and was with Cam until midway through the last lap, losing 20 twenty seconds to Cam. Coming off of the Leadville 100 Kent said “My legs were still a bit tired, but I felt pretty good.  Cam put the hammer down on the last lap and I tried to go with him, but my legs ached quite a bit and I was just unable to respond.”  Cam is currently leading the Psycowpath Series.

Kent McNeill along with a few others have been busy the last month and a half. France last month and Leadville 100 this month. Kent was kind enough to regale us with his account of their adventures.

2008 E’tape Du Tour

This year was supposed to be easier. I suppose in terms of mileage and total elevation gain, it was. Our route from Pau over the Tourmalet and then to the top of Hautacam was 108 miles with 11,600 feet of climbing. The past couple of years our routes have been from 125-150 miles with 13,000 to 14,000 feet of climbing and we have ridden in extreme heat conditions. This swung us to the other end of the spectrum. Hypothermia!
