The 2007 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series got off to a brisk start on Saturday April 7, at the Tranquility Tire Tantrum hosted by Bike Masters Cycling Club.  Riders and families from all over Nebraska and Iowa descended on the west Omaha park despite record lows and gusting winds.  But the conditions didn't keep fans and spectators from lining the the course for pictures and cheer, and from enjoying the hotdogs, bagels, coffee and Red Bull on site.   Neighboring families even joined in on the fun, enjoying their first time participating in a mountain bike race.

Kent McNeill of the Midwest Cycling Community led a group of 5 riders on a blistering pace up the opening climb, but by the time he completed lap one he was riding alone, having dropped many of his competitors.  Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen Bikes Shop), a dominating force in the 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath series, worked hard to keep McNeill in site and stayed within threatening distance for some time; but McNeill sealed the deal in the last two laps and came in to win by over 3 minutes.  Kirkpatrick held on for a strong second; Stephen Jarrett (Midwest Cycling Community) came in for third.  Eighteen year old Aaron Grady of the Bike Masters Cycling Club raced to the fourth place podium in his first ever expert event, just ahead of local veteran Greg Shimonek of the Midwest Cycling Community.  Lincoln PLating-Lemond's Sydney Brown charged up the opening climb and held a strong lead for a win the Women's event.
