Due to measurable amounts of rainfall in the early morning hours today, the Swanson River City Shootout is being postponed to Sunday May 20: Beginners race will go off at 12pm and Sport/Expert at 2pm. With this morning's rainfall, THOR representatives advise that riding Swanson today will cause considerable damage to these sensitive trails. And with rain in the forecast again for tonight, tomorrow is not a viable rain date. Oh, and, by the way, racing in peanut butter mud sucks big time. So go back to bed and wakeup in a few hours for a protein shake and a road ride.

The 2007 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series continues this Sunday May 20 (rescheduled from a wet weekend-- previously May 5) at the Swanson River City Shootout! Saddle up! As One of the beloved trails in our trail system, Swanson promises classic Nebraska offroad racing terrain: tight, twisty, rooty and fast. The 4 mile trail is being groomed and will be ready to put you to the test. Hosted by the Midwest Cycling Community (Highgear/Trek Stores of Omaha), the Swanson River City Shootout will include the usual festivities of music, food, kid's races and of course lots of racing action. Come out early or stay late to cheer your fellow racers onto victory. Good times await so don't miss out. If you didn't make it to the Tranquility Tire Tantrum or Platte River Battle Royal, be sure to show up early to get your free series t-shirt. New Sunday start times: Beginner's race (one lap) starts at 12pm, Kids Race at 1:20pm, and Sport (3 laps)/Expert (5 laps) race starts at 2pm!

MetrO! Mountain Bike Challenge kicks off summer of fun |

Metro area cyclists were greeted with one of the best days of the year for the opening weekend of the MetrO! Mountain Bike Challenge. Families from around the region spent Sunday afternoon enjoying the Lake Manawa trail system with tons of mountain biking and post race hot dogs and soda. Jeffrey Hofer, Sherri Tompkin and Nick Limpach brought home the wins in the beginner junior, women and men's categories. Hofer's time would have placed him 15th in men's race!

The opening round of the MetrO! Mountain Bike Challenge presented by the Midwest Cycling Community kicks off this weekend, April 13-15. So grab the family and come out for a fun day at the Lake Manawa trails.
The weekend will kick off Friday evening with a Ladies Night Out clinic at the Trek Bicycle Store of Omaha, 7214 Jones St., from 7-9pm. Ross Rushin of Trek's WSD Fit for Women Demo Tour will be presenting "How to prepare for your next event". Refreshments will be served along with special in store discounts on clothing and accessories.
