Bellevue,NE - What generally is one of the fastest courses in the area, Swanson Park became the sight of a race where if you had the right mix of luck, skills, and attrition, you just might finish.  If you had a good motor, you may even find yourself on the podium.

Due to intermittent rain showers, both the beginner and sport races saw mud slicked single-track and wet roots. In the Sport and Expert race, eventually tacky mud immersed from the trail that stuck to your bike’s drive train like clay.  A record number of rear derailleurs were sacrificed in the day’s event with last documented count exceeding 10+.

The single-speed category riders seemed to gleam with pride that finally there equipment selection had given them an advantage on the race course.  This was quickly wiped away when they realized that they now had no excuse to quit and must finish despite the challenging and demanding course conditions.

The men’s Pro/Expert race experienced many lead changes as riders adjusted their tire pressure, cleared mud from their bikes and negotiated the ever changing lines of single-track.  Darin Schlake, Steve Jarret and Sam Johnson made a race of it.
