Photo John Peterson The Highgear Bicycle Store of Omaha will host a "Pathway to the Pros," a fundraiser for Midwest Wheelmaster rider Aaron Pool Friday, January 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. The special event will take place in conjunction with Highgear's "Customer Appreciation Night" at the store at 8610 Brentwood Drive in LaVista.
The evening will feature food, drink, new product demonstrations and a preview of the Midwest Cycling Club, a local cycling organization consisting of cyclists from the Omaha and Southeast Nebraska. Manufacturers' representatives will be on hand offering special deals, as well as to answer questions about the latest gear. A raffle will be held to raise money for Pool's return to the Cycling Center in Belgium for the 2007 season. Featured prizes are from Gary Fisher, Shimano, CamelBak and Pearl Izumi. Pool spent the 2006 season training and racing with the Cycling Center, which assists young riders in fullfilling their dreams of competing in the pro ranks. The Cycling Center provides rider support, race experience and resources for riders to continue their development For 2007, the Cycling Center has narrowed its rider selection, adding more international riders and attending larger, more high profile events. In addition, it has entered into a partnership with the Navigators Insurance Pro Cycling Team, one of the United States' top international squads.
